MEDICAL INFORMATICS IN 1969 SWEDEN

Swedish Hospital Medicine is part of the Swedish National Social System. Sweden is divided into seven regions for an optimized care of hospitalized patients in neurology neurosurgery and surgery, urology, radiotherapy and laboratories.
Until now Karolinska Hospital was National Hospital, but after the implementation of this plan, will be Regional Hosital.
THE "J 5" (MEDICAL RECORD SYSTEM)
its origin dates back to 1962 from the National Council for the rationalization of the organization (SJURA) and the National Office for the organization and management.
First programm was in in Algol-21 GeniusD at the Malmöe General Hospital. Since 1967 a new program was designed for IBM COBOL 360 at Karolinska to serve both the functioning of the hospital as a "pilot" Mission on the use of computers in hospital medicine.
The goal of the program is as follows:
- Storage of all types of alpha-numeric data
- Entry in memory of all forms of information
- Access using non coded forms
- Flexible structure to allow further use of new information centers
Creators of the Prograù were Paul Hall, and Mellner Danielsson.
KAROLINSKA SJUKHUST PROJECT STOCKHOLM (PR. PAUL HALL)
Two computers admission of patients and electrocardiograms, laboratory organization of biology and bacteriology relations department with the blood bank and pharmacy.
The aim is to achieve a fully integrated hospital medicine and the most effective part of the program seems to be the "reservation" of admissions
It also exists at the Karolinska applications in medical informatics for the bacteriology laboratory and the department of homology.
The Karolinska institutions will be soon connected to MEDLARS ("medical luiterature analyfis and rettrieval system") beyond National library of medicine of Betthesda, mb, USA

Combination of MEDLARS and radiology. From a radiological movie information records appear on a screen, represented by a text, a drawing or diagram.
Information is then introduced by means of a keyboard. The computer responds by projecting the following information request and establishing the reference light of the information that was entered.
Overall, the goal is to improve on a specific topic, the storage of radiological reports and create effective communication between man and machine
